Event Date : November 24, 2013
Place : Aseana City, Paranaque
Distances : 3K, 5K, 10K, 21K

This was my fourth race, third for 2013 and second 10K-race.h

I arrived in the area about 1.5 hours before the gun start.Together with my running buddies, we headed to the assembly area around 4:00AM.

My wife challenged me again. This time, to finish the race in one hour. I knew it was hard but I was optimistic, I was aiming for PR anyway.

Normally, I start slow but that time I decided to start fast - maybe around 10kph(10kph is fast for me). It was drizzling and still dark and some areas along Macapagal Blvd. are not lighted so I was extra cautious not to stumble. But after about 3kms, I started to feel tired already. I took my first hydration at the second water station. I was looking for Gatorade or some sports energy drink but there was none. I was only running for about 30 minutes so I thought I don't need them anyway.

From the U-Turn going back to the finish line was a challenge. I knew I exerted more energy because of my initial speed so to finish in one hour became harder. I pushed myself. I sprinted at times. But in the end, it was still not enough.

I crossed the finish line in 1 hour, 5 minutes and 9 seconds.

My IPod Time

Review:
Gun start for 21K was late by 30 minutes.
"Morning girls/boys" were almost everywhere to greet and cheer the runners.
Good design of the singlet but it's not dri-fit.
10K gun start was on time at 5:00AM.
Some parts of the race route along Macapagal Blvd. were very dark.
Plenty of water for 10K runners but no energy drinks available.
Official race results were published after 10 days.
Race clock was not visible from the starting line.
Needs improvement and I'm positive that it will be better next time.
